Description :
For sale is a 1998 BMW 540i. I have owned the car for the past 4 years. Asking $6,000 OBO.
4.4L V8 mated to a hard to find 6-Speed Manual Transmission. Vehicle only comes with Hankook winter tires on factory rims.
Leather, Factory HID headlights with auto-level, Heated seats & steering wheel, sunroof, DSP Sound System, BMW Carpet & All-Weather mats, Comfort Seats, Rare-ish BMW BBS Two-Piece Style 5 Rims
Mechanically, everything is good. The body does show it's age. The trunk is the main area of rust, at this point, buying one of the used trunks from salvages around town would be the best repair. Hood has rock chips that are starting to get surface rust.
Modifications/Additions while I have owned it:
-Rear Muffler delete
-BMW ZHP Weighted Shift Knob with 545i Short Shifter
-BC Racing Coilovers, with 32-way adjustable shocks
-CompuStar 2-Way Remote Starter
-GROM Audio Interface (USB, Android, Bluetooth, Track info on Factory HeadUnit)
-12" Boston Acoustics Sub, Sealed Box, 400W MB-Quart Monoblock Amp
While I have owned it, all maintenance has been performed:
-Transmission and Differential Replace with Amsoil Synthetic Oils
-Oil changes done on time, every 8-10k, with Amsoil Euro 5w-40 or Mobil1 Euro/MB 5w-40
-Engine air filter and cabin air filers replaced once a year
-Coolant Flushed with BMW Blue Coolant Every 2 years
-A/C Recharged last Summer
-Alignment last done last winter
-Spark Plugs & Fuel Filter
-Brake Fluid flushed with ATE Super-Blue
Repairs/Maint all done with OEM parts or OEM Brand (Same part, just doesn't come in a BMW box):
-Waterpump & rad hoses (Summer 09)
-Clutch flex hose (Winter 09)
-Front Right Wheel Bearing (Spring 10)
-Rear Upper Control Arms (Summer 10)
-Drive Shaft Center Support Bearing (and re-grease drive shaft CV) (Fall 10)
-Rear Right Wheel Bearing (Fall 10)
-Front & rear pads (Textar & Pagid) with rotors (Brembo Blanks) (Fall 10)
-Front & rear brake hoses (Fall 10)
-Front Left Wheel Speed Sensor (Winter 10)
-Alternator & Battery (Winter 11)
-Power Steering pump (Fall 11)
-HID Bulbs replaced and one new ballast (Winter 12)
-Thermostat (Spring 12)
-Mechanical fan replaced with 16" Electric fan (Summer 12)
