I'll take your winters and the the JVC. 403 554-4993. Dean (txt-call).
I'm out on the JVC for the time being because I'm getting an iphone 5 and apparently the connector is being changed (can't take the chance of it not working). Absolutely still in on the winter setup.
Will again be interested in the JVC if I can conclude the iphone 5 will be compatible
with the winter set up, you mean wheels and tires? and if the connector changes, theres still an aux port, which i dont think theyre going to change. ever
I'll chime in on the iPhone 5 discussion. At this point, it's pretty much confirmed that Apple WILL change the plug on the new iPhone. I'm an iOS developer and I've been working with iOS 6 and all the related stuff since June, so I've heard talk about this for months. I can't say any more than that, though.
I agree that an aux port will work. My concern is being able to control the phone (selecting music, GPS apps) on the head unit screen. That is the upgrade i'm after.

That would require the actual Apple connector. If the head unit uses a USB to hook up the Apple cable, then I'm sure there will be a new one available soon.

The problem is that in order to use the full integration of the iphone. The phone must be connected to the unit with JVC's special cable. A cable which wont work with the new iphone. I'm sure JVC will make a new cable for the iphone 5. But myself, i'm a student and it's a lot of money for me (so I have to be sure before I can buy it).
Oh ok, I see. I didn't know you had to use special JVC cables, but that's pretty much what I was trying to get at. With my old Alpine head unit, I could use any iPod cable and plug it into the USB port to have full control from the head unit. My guess is that JVC will have a new cable soon after the new iPhone comes out for ~$35

Absolutely, they will have some upset customers if they don't. I may still purchase the unit, I just can't be 100% sure right now. Out of respect to the seller, I wanted readers to know it wasn't 100% spoken for. If it's still around in a bit, lucky me, but I know when you snooze you usually loose (risk ill take)
