Eeesh, I'd steer well clear. The guy who's selling can't afford to maintain it properly, it has high mileage (235K) and some minor body damage. The money you save on the purchase price will be offset by all the likely repairs and catch-up maintenance you'd have to do.
If it actually has 70,000kms it would be worth restoring to OEM+. I do love MK3 GTI VR6's (first car!), but part of the appeal to me was it's understated looks and how well it performed completely stock. The modifications really limit market appeal (non-functional hood scoop, engine bay stickers, K&N hot air intake, JDM stylez steering wheel) and the jetta front end is really subjective.
Ehh, the steering wheel is terrible, everything else is ok. Jetta swap was very popular and considered OEM+ (I had jetta front end on mine), and the Subaru scoop, although not for everyone was also really popular. stickers would be no big deal. Worst thing about this one is it's red! haha.
