Is there something close? Ive been looking at Hidden Hitches and the like and they are all 1.25" receivers, and I like the hidden look you have here.

Check the instal procedure on the hidden hitch too... on my passat there was drilling through the spare tire well involved, and fender washers and really bad things....

Yes, the aftermarket ones require drilling on the B6 too.
I can make one for a Passat, but it comes down to design time, running the numbers, getting the material and fabrication time. For a one off item, I would be into it for 8-10 hours and I would need the car to work from. With these Audi ones, I had my own car taken apart for a while so I could make sure they all fit properly. The $300 price point I was originally asking is a whisper above the cost of materials.

Makes sense. Any other B5/B5.5 wagons out there looking to split design costs? Even for a one off is probably worth it. Might end up the same as a westy hitch, but you can use it with NA racks, which is kind of a big plus.

That totally makes sense. What your doing for the Audi guys is awesome.
I would be willing to commit & put the money down up front if others looking for a B6 Passat version are willing to come in and offset the design costs and make it worth your time and efforts.
Seeing as we live close I could donate my car for measurements and fittings.
If it helps I found the instalation guide for the Passat one.
