  • Audi A4 Hidden Hitch or "Tow-Bar"

I needed a hitch to carry a bike rack, but all the ones available are mounted to the spare tire well and only use a 1-1/4" receiver.

I like the design of the European hitches, but they are expensive and don't accept north american trailer attachments.

The only real solution is to make one. I have had requests for more, so this is my feeler for how many I should make.

    $XXX per with a 2" or 1-1/4 Reciever.

Here is what is readily available:

With 2" Receiver, could be done with a 1-1/4" receiver too.

Without Receiver, sits with about 1" extending past the bumper cover.

This is the lock pin to eliminate any rattling between the two connections.

    Without Bumper Cover

Sandblasted, Epoxy Prime and Endura Paint.

A hitch for a Golf is much more simple, I have made those too.

Dude that is sweet! I'm very impressed by this whole idea but one question, you need to take off the bumper every time you want to install/remove the receiver correct? Maybe there is another way around that....

There is room between the Bumper and spare tire well to fit your hand.

I saw an Audi Q5 3.2 towing a boat last sunday at the lake. Perhaps I should put one on the .:R. Then go motorboating.....LIKE A BOSS!!!!!

Are you willing to make one for the golf? Same price?
Around the same load ratings as the Westfalia hitches?

I can, I would need the car for a couple hours for fit-up,

I can do it for the same price. Same load rating.

So, in regards to the Audi Hitches, I have a shop forming the two side channels, they should be ready late next week, with that part sorted, I can have the hitches done on or around the 26th.
