Ok, I'm ordering more soon, I have 2 people interested so far.

If I can find 3 more people, I can knock off $50 of everyone's cluster. Price includes shipping, and me covering duties for you, and they would then be:

    $400 half-mfa, $600 full-mfa.

I will leave this open for about a week. if someone prefers the north american style cluster, but wants mfa, i can do that too. subtract another $50 from those respectively.

MFA is a multi function display. So it shows you certain stats while you drive.

        Half screen shows you:

        i) total time driven for the current trip w/ average.
ii) instantaneous fuel consumption w/ average.
iii) estimated mileage remaining before you run out of fuel.
        iv) outside air temperature

and another thing i forget what it is though.

Full screen shows all of the above plus:

        v) has support for nav system, so it will show you arrows of where and when to turn and in how long.
vi) has support for rds radio, so it will stream station information on the cluster.
vii) has a higher resolution screen, so icons are replaced by full graphics, if you open your door, there's a pic of a car and shows the door is open.

Mfa will be working without any extra wiring, however to get the outside air temperature, you must buy a sensor and wire it up. Also, to switch between the menus you must buy a new wiper stalk and wire that up. As for the cluster reading the variables of whats going on, thats already all pre-wired in all vw's.

if you have low fuel, it will show a big size icon, same for washer level, and other important things, see my other post about my cluster that i have, it shows a hot coolant one i think.

          Re: GB: Euro Clusters

If I didnt have this damage to cover I would totally get in on a North American style cluster with MFA.

But if my cluster tells me everything like that, what am I suppose to calculate in my head to pass the time on long trips and maintain my anal retentive nature?

I might be interested in a North American 1/2 MFA one. Can you get just the plain old North American clusters?

are you saying your car is slow and therefore you would have the time to do something like that on your trips? see for me, i need a computer to tell me these things, i might even have to overclock the onboard processor, ahah.

yes i can get a north american style with half mfa. $350 if the group buy happens, otherwise $400 individually. so this one would be exactly what the glx's get here right now. or is it gli's? i forget. puppagevw has one in his car i believe.

                Re: GB: Euro Clusters

btw, here is a pic of full mfa on NA style cluster. of course this is on a tdi. 1.8t/vr6/2l people this would be the correct rpm and 260km/h top speed on the speedo. and it can set to english language.

                  Re: GB: Euro Clusters

I guess what I'm asking is can you get me a stock replacement for my 2001 Jetta GLS 1.8T cluster (i.e. no MFA). Unlike others who would be doing this as an upgrade just to get the MFA, I need to replace my cluster because it is fubared and replacing it with stock is an option I would like to explore.

The MFA stuff looks kinda cool though. If there isn't a big price difference I'd probably go with the half MFA, but if the stock one is significantly cheaper, I just might go with that. (Wife wants to take a trip to europe, need to watch what I spend on the car.)

P.S. Is it just me or is the board getting a little slow/non-responsive lately?

possibly, i noticed something too when posting replies.

non-mfa is $50 cheaper. that should give you an idea of what you'd like to do.

How come you can't buy someone elses old cluster? Cause I'm guessing there's gonna be a few. :P

I'm definately considering a NA version with half MFA - I was kinda pissed that it became a tech option after I bought my car. Got any idea how much the stalk is? And can you turn it off (I'm just wondering how annoying that red will be at night).

Edit: Ooh and getting rid of the damn "Cruise" light would be a bonus too?

Yeah, its mostly when post/previewing replies.

Anyway, I guess you can put me down for a North American 1/2 MFA for a 2001 Jetta 1.8T.

I don't think I can buy a used one because I don't think you can reset the odometer if it has more than 100 km on it (or something like that).

Stalk is $150 i think. Temp sensor is about $40-50. Plus the extra wiring.
I don't believe you can turn off the mfa. It's not annoying at all, its perfect. You can look at mine if you want before deciding.

What do you mean about the cruise light?

the euro version has chrome and is a different style, like this:

so you can choose any combination you want of:

NO MFA, HALF MFA, FULL MFA on a EURO or NA cluster.
