I really hate to sell the 924 as I had plans for a full-out restoration (it would make an easy restoration project) somewhere down the road...Alas, priorities change and I have to let it go due to a newfound lack of storage space. The car was used as a summer/road-trip car until I put it into storage last autumn, it hasn't been driven much this year apart from the few times I tinkered with it and took it out for a quick drive around the block. It's a well-running example that can be daily driven as well, it never game me any real grief that wasn't a simple fix during periods of daily-commuting and numerous road trips. It's quite decent for a 31 year old car that hasn't had major work done to it. Still a joy to drive in that old-school way...
Recent-ish work:
- Timing belt + radiator replaced 2 years ago
- Radiator flush + new coolant last summer
- New thermostat last summer
- New driver's side power window regulator last summer
- Various fuel lines
- High-pressure fuel pump
General info:
- Mint interior
- Engine runs well, no idle issues, no cold-start or common hot-start fuel injection issues. Engine doesn't miss. No excessive oil consumption/no coolant consumption. No visibile smoke from the exhaust.
- 5-speed "dogleg" transaxle
- No visible coolant/oil leaks on ground when car is parked over extended periods of time
- dual electric cooling fans
Things that could use some TLC further down the road:
- Odometer stopped working a few hundred km ago. The odometer on these cars only hold 5 digits as well, so once the odo reaches 100 000km it resets to zero. Currently sitting at 71xxxkm.
- The paint on the front valence and hood isn't perfect
- Exhaust leak at the manifold (common issue, car is perfectly driveable with the exhaust leak but is louder, smellier and sounds a bit more like a flat-4 haha...)
- The dampers and tires could use a refresh as they're getting up there in age
