  • Feeler: Huffs

Got a set of Huffs I'm thinking about selling, ($650 OBO) tires are worn, one has the sidewall blown. Tires are OEM dunlops, if you could find a worn one, you could probably get a summer out of them.

2 of 4 wheels have a couple of small spots of curbage. One wheel, kinda bad curbage. Also missing on VW Centercap (still looking for it.)

    I'm thinking either:

    -Sell them (Kijiji!)

-Find a place with a CNC lathe big enough to remachine the face (After I use a CMM to probe the profile of the surface, and make a fixture to hold it concentric).

-Try to find one used Huff

    -Have them Powdercoated.

-Sand and Polish the faces myself.

    -Sand and Paint myself.

Dude sanded the faces and left a "Brushed" Look. Not bad.

Why is an option to find 1 used Huff? Is one of them dented or warped in addition to the curbage? It looks like 3 are curbed and one of them is worse than the others. Is that the reason you suggest replacing one and living with the curbage on the other 2?

                Re: Feeler: Huffs

Yeah, they aren't bent or warped, it's like you said, all have a little curbage, something you wouldn't see from afar, but one is pretty bad. I suggested replacing one with a used one, and they'll be all around slight curbage.

If you look at huffs the wrong way they get curbage! lol

Either way, these are OEM which I believe are made by BBS. I'll double check them when I get home.

How much for powdercoating I wonderz?

I cannot find the thread, but one guy did the faces similar in the way that one puts a pattern on metal using a flat dowel in a drill press; ie overlapping circles. Looked good.

wow... that's not "light" curbage... that's down right fucked up...

Looks like someone's been practicing a little too much "park by touch"

I'm thinking about sanding and painting these bitches similar to this dude:

                    http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3159865&page=4

As I drive a reflex Silver, I think I'll do a black and silver combo as opposed to red and black...and a shitload of clearcoat.

                    Who does good powdercoating here?

Sent a email to Calgary Powdercoating, Gonna be $75/wheel; this is the reply:

                      Good Morning,
To powder coat wheels we charge $75.00 each. If your wheels have curb rash on them you may want to get that fixed before we powder coat them. We will strip the wheel and lightly sand blast them but the curb rash will remain and you will be able to see that when powder coated.
