I was up underneath my car at My Tires the other day (they had it on the lift) and I got to inspect this firsthand. The bar is attached with drilling, but I think this is a very good thing! It is REALLY bolted on there, I can see how it adds the stiffness to the body.

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.
