SOLD!!
Well… it’s that time folks. The car has been an absolute blast to own, but it’s time for something new in the stable. It’s not going to be cheap, but it’s worth every penny. I just want to get out what I put into it, so I’m asking $65,000 obo. Ok, maybe not, but that’s seriously got to be close to what I’m into it for over the last nine years; no expense was spared in my attempt to take good care of this car. Many of you know the car personally, as it’s been out to a ton of meets and shows over the years. If you have any questions about it, please PM or email me and I’ll be more than happy to get back to you. It handles very well, and with the turbo and 6-speed conversion, it’s incredibly quick, responsive and fun to drive.

-low temp (75-82 degree) fan switch
-shorter length serpentine belt (due to A/C delete)

-Autometer Boost Gauge
-Alpine iDA-X001 iPod head unit (USB stick capable)
-2 x 10” JL subwoofers
-Soundstream Amplifier
-Aluminum door pins
-Momo pedals
The Bad:
-Passenger front doorcard has a little ripple in the leather at the top.
-Fog light on driver’s side is cracked.
-Unfortunately, I had to winter drive this in the early years of ownership, so it’s got some rust bubbles starting in the usual MK3 Golf locations (rocker panel, rear quarter panel and hatch)
-Other than the front bumper and grill, it’s all original paint… so it’s got what’s expected for ten years worth of rock chips and minor scratches.
-Passenger side rear quarter has some slight scratches on lower portion due to someone scrubbing past it with their bumper in a parking lot years ago. (No dents, just surface scratches)
-Odometer is wrong. Currently on third instrument cluster (replaced at Northland VW and apparently the mileage cannot be set by the dealer on the replacement modules.) First one died with just shy of 99,000 km’s on it, next one died with just over 10,000 km’s on it, so if you add 110,000 km’s to the current odometer reading, you’ll be a little high, but fairly accurate. (The electrical issue that caused these failures was resolved.) Car currently has approximately 79,000 km’s showing on the odometer and is being daily driven (mostly on nice days) in the summer; some quick math shows that the body has approximately 189,000 km’s on it.
-Wheels are starting to show their age (Have been repaired/repainted by Andrej once a few years ago, but are a little marked up again.)
The Good:
-At Euroquake 2008 in Red Deer, dyno’d 392 hp / 344 lb torque at the wheels. (@ approx. 18psi)
-Award winner!! It took home the dyno-queen title for its above performance at Euroquake and also won second place that year at the same show for the MK3 category. A few years ago, when the car was still supercharged, it won the Das Volks Show drag racing title at Race City.
-Yes, the car has been tracked and yes, it has been driven the way a car like this should be driven to be appreciated… BUT, it has also been very well cared for and well maintained.
-Oil and all other fluids checked and changed regularly.
-Since I’ve owned the car, I’ve only used synthetic oil.
-Claybared and waxed about a month ago.
-Calgary Autoworks has done any and all of the recent service on the car and know it very well inside and out.
-I’m the second owner and I’ve had the car since June 2000; purchased from South Centre VW with approximately 15,000 km’s on it.
-Car is ridiculously fast and fun… it will definitely be missed, but after a little over nine years, it’s just time for a new toy. Let’s get it to a good home.
