  • My inspection wasn't as clean as I'd hoped

So my inspection came back today for the Stage III B5 S4 Avant I'm looking at. I'm now wondering if I'm paying too much for the car given what it's returned.

    Here are the Mods

    Borg Warner RSK04s
    RS4 Injectors
    RS4 MAF
    5Bar FPR
    RS4 Intercoolers
    APR Bi-Pipe
    Piggie Downpipes
    AWE Twin II Exhaust
    Cayenne Front Brakes
    New 02 Sensors
    Stage II Clutch
    Vogtland Coilovers
    Stern Adjustable Control Arms
    RS4 Grill
    AWE DTS
    Authentic RS4 E-codes
    AWE new style boost gauge
    AWE pedals
Timing belt/tensioers etc. has been done 8K Miles ago

    & some other small stuff

Here's a dyno of what it put down

    Here's the inspection.

There are some things there I'm OK with and others I'm unsure about. The owner has a new set of EGTs that I am getting installed and another set of Stern control arms that I will have installed. Ditto new rotors to replace the cross drilled one. He will also be including the 18" winter wheels and tires, and an extra set of Bridgestone RE-01s for the summers.

We agreed on $19,000US which is an all in price up here of just under $23,000.

I really want a B5 S4 and this one seems set up well, has all maintenance receipts etc, but has some issues I'm not 100% on. Any of the B5 S4 owners want to chime in. I know avants command a premium and its a stage III car already, but am I nuts and paying too much?

23000 is still cheapy cheapy for that car man

your going to EAT front CV boots/joints so get used to it

the rest of the stuff can easily be fixed
ie.. paint can be buffed or easily fixed in the small spots

the dyno shows 19 PSI too.. should be low-mid 20s for a stage3 iirc

codes are from EGTs or need new coilpacks but i'll say EGTs

evap one is a boost leak i used to get that one.. easy enough to fix..

the diff leaks just have the fluids swapped once you get the car and all the stuff replaced too.. easy enough

The Dahlback tune is SUPER conservative. I was going to get retuned by Vast and have been talking to Jared already.

The CV boot has already been fixed as well. I forgot to mention that.

So you're in the "Yes this is a good buy" coloumn? I know its a B5 S4 and I'm going to have some maintenance stuff. I figure I can't even come close to building a car like this for the money.

        jordan....

for the fact its noggy with noggy interior and a 6spd avant.. rare man rare!

only mod you need to do is swap the platic door handles for the black ones IMO haha

ps.. PM me if you want and i'll tell you how much i paid for my b5 5 years ago..

If you ignore that its a Nogaro 6-speed avant.. I'd say its overpriced....
Most mods are typical, mileage is slightly more then average and you will more then likely have to spend another grand to get decent programming in the car to make good power.
PLUS all the items that need repair/replacing.. I would have a hard time trusting a car/owner that put two different rotors on.. seems pretty ghetto.

I guess it all comes down to what premium you place on it being a Nogaro Avant..
There have been way better buys if you are patient (Autospeed GT car sold for ~19...a Nogaro Stage 3 widebody in TO sold for under 23Cdn... ) but it all depends on you!

            yea that is true mark

i dunno if i wanted this car i'd probably buy it now..

you can find the even more rare platinum unicorn and get a widebodied avant or sedan thats stage 3

2 rotors is odd but meh brakes are easy to replace..

We compromised and hit a new price that I'm more comfortable with which compensates for the repairs for the leaks. I can't really ignore that its a Nogaro 6-speed avant. That's one of the things I want. I have no interest in a B5 Sedan and the avants seem to have a premium.

I'm probably leaving $1500 on the table now with the new price, but I'll just pick up some extra work to compensate.

More like nag-on-oh your wallet 6-speed avant.

                  but it'll be pretty.
