  • S4 - who's replaced Bose Head-unit?

So, I keep looking at the Pioneer AVIC-D3 and thinking what a great addition it would make to my S4. Has anybody replaced their stock Bose deck? Am I crazy to consider this?

Read some stuff on AW and it looks good from there. Any thoughts?

Double Din decks are selling a lot cheaper then most fold outs right now too since most new cars don't have room for a double. If you need any subs or amps let me know.

If you come across the bookmark lemme know, I'd appreciate it. D3 is on sale this weekend at Futureshop.

Stupid Noob Question....can someone point me to a site where I can read up on single din, double din, etc. I've always ran stock head units and no NOTHING about stereo upgrades / changes, etc.

I have the D3, its a great unit....As for comparison to the Bose system in your car, I don't know how it would compare.....

I'm running the D3 as well, no regrets, lot's of features and way better maps than any oem navi. Bluetooth Audio is interesting to use and watching video off of the ipod only works sometimes, but that's an ipod issue, not Pioneer.

www.the12volt.com Will have all the car audio info you will ever need. I have a N3 that is going into the van, basically same as the D3 but foldout.

yea the RNS E is nice bart but for what you get with the D3 plus it looks OEM.. and if you take the METRA surround the paint it with the proper paint it'll match the OEM trim and look right..

yes true the cluster feature is nice

sad part is on tons of b5s (luckily not mine yet) the cluster screens die (like my 1st mk4 euro one if you remember) so if its dead add the aftermarket and yipeee

D3's are 200 bucks off ($799) at futureshop right now, I was in yesterday and was really tempted to pick one up.
